Barcelona scouting Everton midfielder, impressed by performances

Barcelona will need to bring in a deeper midfielder in the long-term, with Oriol Romeu ageing, and even the makeshift solution of placing Ilkay Gundogan at the base of midfield is another option that cannot continue long-term. One of the players they consider could be ready for the task is Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

The Belgian giant has been marauding around the midfield in the Premier League this season, and MD say that Barcelona have good scouting reports on him. His ball-winning ability, stamina and ability in the air are all aspects of his game that have stood out to them, but once he has the ball, he uses it well too.

Onana seems a tricky deal to negotiate for a Barcelona side with scarce finances though. Still with four years on his contract, Everton are in no hurry to sell, and the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked to him. The Catalan daily mention that a relegation could force Everton into sales, but Sean Dyche’s side look on course to avoid relegation in spite of their ten-point deduction.
