WATCH: Real Madrid star makes heartfelt Carlo Ancelotti appreciation speech – ‘He knows I love him a lot’

Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes has thanked manager Carlo Ancelotti for his continued trust in the Brazilian, despite a meagre start to the season.

The Brazilian was for the first time slated to be a fixture in the Real Madrid starting XI following the departure of Karim Benzema in the summer, but with just one goal in Real Madrid’s 12 opening games, his form was starting to be questioned.

Meanwhile Joselu Mato has contributed five goals with much less playing time, and some were calling for a change of tactics from Ancelotti. With Joselu missing through illness against Braga, Rodrygo got the nod and broke his 11-game drought.

After the match, he passed through the mix zone to show his appreciation for ‘Carletto’.

“I want to thank the manager. Because I think he will see this interview later, many thanks, because he has trusted me, he always calmed me down.”

“Because he saw that I was perhaps annoyed sometimes due to not scoring, a bit sad, but he continued trusting in me. He knows that I love him a lot, and now it’s time to keep doing things well.”

Ancelotti remarked that he was never concerned with Rodrygo-s form.

“For him it is important and for us too, but a little less. He has had good games despite not scoring. The goal is going to help him in the next games.”

Ancelotti is renowned for his man management skills, and ability to connect with his players. Indeed, one of the features of his second spell in charge has been the healthy dressing room at the Santiago Bernabeu, allowing players like Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Vinicius Junior to adapt and show their quality quickly.
