Former Barcelona star Gerard Pique has slowly left the spotlight after a chaotic final year in football, where he split up with long-time partner Shakira and retired from the game. He is focusing on his King’s League project, pitting famous personalities against ex or amateur footballers in a shortened format aimed at entertainment with YouTuber Ibai Llanos.
After enormous success in Spain, Pique and Llanos have taken their venture to the Americas, launching a second franchise aimed at the Latin and US audiences. He was once again the centre of attention at that event, although not exactly as he had planned.
Pique appeared to be listening to a voice message on his phone as he went to sign a Barcelona shirt for a fan, but not paying attention, missed a gap between the barrier and the stage. It caused him to in what must have been a painful drop, having disappeared completely from sight.
