Four Real Madrid players named as starters for El Clasico following Braga match – report

Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Braga, MD report that they Carlo Ancelotti has left several clues as to his starting XI for El Clasico this Saturday afternoon.

Los Blancos head into the match with Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Dani Ceballos and Arda Guler all missing, while Joselu Mato was also absent against Braga due to illness. It has left Ancelotti with three major dilemmas for the Clasico in his selection process.

Naturally it is no surprise that he rotated against Braga on Tuesday night, but with Ferland Mendy, David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouameni and Toni Kroos all rested, the Catalan daily say that all are likely to start.

Mendy is competing for his spot on Saturday with Fran Garcia and Eduardo Camavinga also options there, while Kroos has been far from a fixture this season too. Alaba was always likely to start if fit, but clearly Ancelotti did not feel it was necessary to give him more match fitness.

With Joselu missing out, and Rodrygo scoring, the Braga match could perhaps swing Ancelotti’s thinking. The Spanish veteran is far easier to drop than Rodrygo, and if Joselu is below 100%, it would be an easy excuse for Ancelotti to bench the former Espanyol player, even if he has outscored Rodrygo so far.
