More problems at Almeria as former Manchester United prospect is arrested

Almeria have plenty on their plate this week, but another problem has come about as they could be without one of their midfielders for a key weekend clash against Granada.

The Andalusian side are rooted to the bottom of the table, after just two points from their opening seven games, and host 19th-placed Granada on Sunday. Manager Vicente Moreno has been sacked, although it has not been announced, nor has his replacement.

According to ED, midfielder Arnau Puigmal has been arrested. He is thought to have been driving with an invalid licence, which was from a different country and had expired. Puigmal spent four years at the Manchester United academy as a youngster, having moved from Espanyol initially, and presumably obtained his licence in England.

Puigmal, 22, could face a sentence of between 3-6 months in prison, 12-24 months loss of income in a fine, or 31-90 days of community service. In normal circumstances, he will be released before facing punishment, unless he is considered a flight risk.
