Barcelona to have forward available for Getafe clash as suspension is not enforced by LaLiga

On Sunday, Barcelona get their LaLiga title defence underway when they travel to Madrid to take on Jose Bordalas’ Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez, a ground that they have not won, or even scored, at in the last three seasons.

Barcelona are unlikely to have their full squad available for the match due to LaLiga registration issues, although Xavi Hernandez will have Ferran Torres at his disposal, which is good news considering his excellent pre-season form.

Torres could have been suspended for the Getafe fixture, as he picked up a fifth booking of the season during Barcelona’s final LaLiga match last season, a 2-1 loss to Celta Vigo. However, as MD have reported, LaLiga have not enforced the suspension, so he is free to play.

Torres will be an important player for Barcelona this season, especially with the departure of Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain, which was confirmed on Saturday. He will likely act as a backup to Raphinha on the right, but also Robert Lewandowski through the middle, as Vitor Roque has yet to join from Athletico Paranaense.
