Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys decorated in Barcelona colours for first time ahead of debut fixture

For the first time in many, many years, Barcelona won’t be playing their home matches at the Spotify Camp Nou, with the iconic stadium undergoing major refurbishments, which are expected to be completed in late 2024.

Until then, Barcelona will play home fixtures at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic. Their first competitive match at the stadium will be against Cadiz on the 20th of August, but they will make their official bow on Tuesday, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Ahead of the match, the Olympic Stadium has been decorated in Barcelona’s iconic Blaugrana colours, which will give a more homely feeling to the reigning LaLiga champions.

It will certainly be a very strange feeling for those associated with Barcelona to not be playing at the Camp Nou, but they will hope that Montjuic is a good luck charm for them during the upcoming season, as they go for back-to-back LaLiga titles.
