Barcelona battling with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr to sign top pivot target

Following Sergio Busquets’ departure at the end of the 2022-23 season, Barcelona have been left without a natural pivot in Xavi Hernandez’s squad, meaning that signing a new one will be essential this summer.

Several targets have been identified, with Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich having been identified as “Plan A” options for. However, with no realistic chance of signing either this summer, Barcelona have moved on.

They have moved on to Marcelo Brozovic, who is now their top pivot target, according to MD. The Croatian international is seen as being the ideal candidate to replace Busquets, given the circumstances surrounding the club’s financial issues.

Unfortunately for Barcelona, they are facing competition to sign Brozovic, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr having submitted a massive contract offer to the Inter Milan captain, whose agent is keen for his client to move to Saudi Arabia. Brozovic himself is leaning more and more towards Barcelona, although time is running out for a move to be made.

Inter are prepared to accept an offer of €25m for Brozovic, which could prove difficult for Barcelona, given their finances. However, it would be the best possible move that they can make this summer, but they need to hurry.
