Vitor Roque deal edges closer as Athletico Paranaense CEO travels to Barcelona for talks

Vitor Roque has been a target for Barcelona for the vast majority of 2023, and there is growing confidence that a deal can be done this summer, despite the club’s precarious financial situation.

Roque has made it know of his desire to join Barcelona, with it being his first choice for his next club, and the LaLiga champions see him as being the idea backup to Robert Lewandowski, with the potential of becoming their first-choice striker in years to come.

It has been reported that Barcelona are hoping to agree a fee in the region of €35-40m with Athletico Paranaense for the signing of Roque, and MD have now reported that the Brazilian club’s CEO, Alexandre Mattos, is currently in Barcelona for talks, alongside Andre Cury, Roque’s agent.

There has been talk that Barcelona are willing to let Roque stay at Paranaense until the end of 2023 if he cannot be registered this summer, and it is sure to be one of the talking points during the negotiations.

Barcelona will certainly be hoping that they can tie up negotiations with both parties this weekend, as they look to secure a signing of Roque, a player who will be key for present and future.
