Sporting Director hits Real Madrid hopes of forward target – ‘Crucial player for our present and future’

Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with a move away for several months, as circumstances point towards a potential move. However Director Francesco Calvo has told the media that they have ‘no doubts’ about the young goalscorer.

The 23-year-old moved to Juventus in January of 2022 for over €80m from Fiorentina, and despite a decent start in Turin, has not looked like a striker of that value this season. Vlahovic has not scored in Serie A since mid-October. He recently deleted his social media after receiving so much abuse from Juventus fans.

Juventus are eight points off the Champions League spots with just nine games to go in Serie A, following their points deduction, which will be a major financial blow for the Old Lady. Thus Vlahovic has been highlighted as a player with value on the market, with Real Madrid and various Premier League sides linked to him.

Yet Calvo explained that Vlahovic was there to stay, as reported by Diario AS.

“We have no doubts about Dusan as a crucial player for our present and future project, despite the links and stories that are being published. We see how hard he works every day in training, so we have confidence in the present and the future, we are optimistic.”

Real Madrid are working out how to approach the forward position for next season. In the knowledge that they need a proper alternative to Karim Benzema next season to ensure the French forward remains at his best, Vlahovic has been touted as an option. Whether Florentino Perez would be willing to sanction such a large outlay on a player that may not be a starter seems improbable at any rate.
