Lionel Messi hoping for Joan Laporta meeting as Barcelona return continues to gain traction

Lionel Messi’s possible return to Barcelona this summer has generated much excitement among the club’s supporters, who have dreamt of the Argentine returning ever since he left two years ago.

There is a genuine possibility that Messi does return, despite Barcelona’s financial predicament. However, as of yet, club officials have yet to officially submit an offer to the 36-year-old or his representatives.

MD have reported that Messi is looking for Barcelona President Joan Laporta to take steps to improve their relationship. Things did not end well between the pair after Messi’s departure in 2021, and he hopes to meet with Laporta in the near future, with the latter having already met the player’s father this year.

Laporta has been open about his desire to see Messi return to Barcelona, although the pair have had very little direct contact since Messi’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The next few weeks will likely contain much more speculation over Messi’s future, but Barcelona hope that they will be the ones with his signature, come the end of June.
