Barcelona waiting nervously on UEFA decision over Juventus case

Barcelona are keeping a close eye on proceedings in Italy, as Juventus fight their points deduction, according to Diario AS.

La Vecchia Signora were deducted 15 points this season after it was found that they had tampered in transfer dealings, falsely inflating fees. That case is currently being appealed by Juve, but UEFA have asked the Turin courts for the case files, as they carry out their own investigation.

The fear for the Bianconeri is that they face a significant European ban from UEFA. The Blaugrana are looking on nervously from across the Mediterranean Sea, as they look to fight their corruption charges in El Caso Negreira. They feel the Juventus case could set some kind of precedent for their own potential dealings with UEFA.

La Liga wrote to UEFA after the case became public, and have asked the European body to investigate the matter. They themselves are forbidden to sanction Barcelona in sporting terms as the issue is time-barred in Spain.
