Lionel Messi is the ‘greatest of all time’ – Pep Guardiola

Not many people know just how good Lionel Messi is more than his former manager Pep Guardiola, who managed the Argentine for four seasons at Barcelona.

Under Guardiola’s stewardship at the Camp Nou, Messi scored 211 goals and laid on 94 assists in 219 matches. Multiple honours were won too, including the Champions League in 2009.

Following Argentina’s World Cup final victory on Sunday, in which Messi became world champion for the first time, there has been plenty of discussion as to whether the 35-year-old is the GOAT, or greatest of all time, of the sport. For Guardiola, who now manages Manchester City, he was assured on his choice.

“Everyone has their opinion, but I have no doubt that Messi is the best of all time.

“I would not have changed my mind because he had not won the World Cup. This title is just the icing on top of an incredible career.”

With the World Cup having been secured, Messi has won everything in the sport across club and international football.
