Tottenham Hotspur organise themselves to make move for Clement Lenglet

Clement Lenglet is edging closer to joining Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the entirety of the 2022/23 season according to Fabrizio Romano. Tottenham are in the process of selling Steven Bergwijn to Ajax and will reinvest part of that fee to sign Lenglet.

Lenglet isn’t part of Xavi Hernandez’s first-team plans at Camp Nou for this coming season – he’s fallen behind Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen in the pecking order and Barcelona are still keen to sign another centre-back. Moving to the Premier League for a fresh start is smart.

Because Lenglet is a highly capable defender. He joined Barcelona after an impressive spell at Sevilla in January of 2018 and performed well at the beginning of his career at Camp Nou. But his form dropped off significantly and over the seasons his prominence has decreased year on year. He’ll hope working with Antonio Conte will re-invigorate him.
