Bayern Munich open up on Serge Gnabry’s future amid links with Real Madrid

Robert Lewandowski isn’t the only high-profile Bayern Munich player whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023. Serge Gnabry is in the same boat but the noises that the club have been making have been that they really hope he stays put in Bavaria.

Hasan Salihamidzic, speaking with SkyDe, has said that Bayern wants to keep the player and hopes that the two parties can reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Gnabry wouldn’t be short of suitors should he come available, with Real Madrid included in that.

“We really want to keep him,” Salihamidzic said. “I hope that he chooses Bayern. If a player doesn’t want to decide for the club, then we can find a solution that makes everyone happy.”

Gnabry, 26, was born in Stuttgart in Germany but took his first steps in senior football with Arsenal. He failed to make the grade at the Emirates, however, and after a loan at West Bromwich Albion he returned to his homeland with Werder Bremen. After a season back in the Bundesliga he caught the eye of Bayern, joining them in the summer of 2017.
