Luis Enrique explains his reasoning behind recalling Ansu Fati for La Roja

Luis Enrique has named the 25-man squad he’s going to use for La Roja’s upcoming Nations League commitments.

Spain take on Portugal on June second at the Benito Villamarin in Seville before locking horns with the Czech Republic in Prague three days later. They then take on Switzerland in Geneva before entertaining the Czech Republic down in Malaga to finish it off.

Spain will no doubt take this period seriously. The Qatar World Cup is only around the corner and La Roja have every chance of going to the Middle East and winning the competition outright.

They made it to the semi-final of Euro 2020 only to lose to eventual winners Italy before making it to the final of the Nations League only to lose to reigning world champions France.

One of the most notable returnees to the squad is Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, who’s been suffering from injury since making his senior debut for Spain at the beginning of the 2020/21 season.

“I have a special plan, we’re not going to take any risks,” Luis Enrique said according to Marca. “We’re going to see him train, he’s not going to play many minutes.

“It’s more than anything a return to competition and to the parameters of the national team. It’s more of a prize than bringing him in for minutes.”

Luis Enrique’s squad in full can be found below.
