Mateu Alemany’s meeting with Ousmane Dembele’s agent in Morocco was to re-establish relations

Ousmane Dembele’s future is complicated.

The Frenchman’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of this season and it’s not yet known whether he’s going to renew.

Dembele’s agent met with Barcelona’s sporting director Mateu Alemany in Marrakech in Morocco yesterday but it was merely a preliminary meeting according to Fabrizio Romano.

The goal was to re-establish relations after a tense and complicated January transfer window. Negotiations haven’t yet restarted but another meeting is scheduled in the coming weeks.

Dembele has been positively reborn under Xavi Hernandez.

Ever since the drama of the January window came and went the Frenchman has been in the form of his life for Barcelona.

The 24-year-old winger has contributed ten assists and one goal in just 13 La Liga appearances this season and has been a key reason that Barcelona are now up to second in the league table.

He’s a difference-maker of rare calibre.
