Barcelona include €1bn release clause in Ronald Araujo’s new contract

Ronald Araujo has signed a new deal with Barcelona.

The Uruguayan centre-back has extended his contract to 2026 with La Blaugrana and agreed to a release clause of €1bn.

Both Ansu Fati and Pedri have a similar release clause included in their long-term deals according to Fabrizio Romano and Araujo is very much of similar importance to the Catalan club.

Having broke into Barcelona’s first-team at the beginning of last season Araujo has consolidated his first-team place, forming a solid partnership with Gerard Pique at the heart of their defence.

Next up for Barcelona is agreeing a new deal with Gavi.

The 17-year-old Andalusian midfielder, already a full Spanish international, will also have a release clause of €1bn included.

Such deals are evidence that Barcelona are very much heading in the right direction. They’re currently second in La Liga and can boast an impressive core of young talent as well as a top coach.
