Sporting Director Antonio Cordon says Dani Ceballos and Real Betis will cross paths again

Dani Ceballos was one of the great emerging talents in Spanish football but now at the age of 25, it’s fair to say he has never quite made anywhere his home since leaving Real Betis.

He left Seville at the age of 20 and went to Real Madrid, where he has failed to fulfil his potential in the five years since. Two seasons on loan at Arsenal failed to extract that form either.

Last week Ceballos admitted that he missed Betis in a clear message to the directorate at Los Verdiblancos that he would welcome a return. Ceballos has been used sparingly since his return to Madrid.

Asked about that in an interview with RadioMarca, Betis Sporting Director Antonio Cordon did little to calm the rumours linking the two.

“Sooner or later the paths of Betis and Ceballos will cross. That is fated. Sooner or later, definitely.”

Real Betis have managed to make it work with a squad that many had deemed too small to compete on several fronts, but have managed to make it to the Copa del Rey final. That being said, Manuel Pellegrini would surely welcome some cover for Sergio Canales given his injury record.
