Milan chief Paolo Maldini arrives in Madrid to negotiate for Brahim Diaz

While Real Madrid struggle for squad depth, one of their brightest talents continues to impress in Italy. Brahim Diaz to be precise, is the object of Milan’s desires and they intend to keep him in Lombardy.

According to Diario AS, Paolo Maldini has travelled to Madrid in order to negotiate for Brahim ahead of the summer. The attacking midfielder joined Milan on a two-year loan deal in 2020 and the Italians have an option to buy him for €22m.

The Rossoneri are keen to get him for less however. Maldini’s task is either to lower the fee for Brahim or ensure that Real Madrid have no buyback clause. Alternatively he will try to strike a deal that leaves Real Madrid without rights to a percentage of his next sale.

Both of those are conditions that Los Blancos are keen to retain. The 22-year-old has four goals and four assists across the season and continues to get better.

One avenue that may help Maldini’s cause is doing business with Madrid for other players. AS say that he will float the idea of deal for Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, both of whom are out of favour with Carlo Ancelotti.
