Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy train alone days before Real Madrid travel to Celta Vigo

Real Madrid travel to Galicia to face Celta Vigo this weekend.

They’d hoped to welcome back Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy for the tie but that’s not as certain a prospect as thought.

Both Frenchman trained at Valdebebas this afternoon but did so separate from the group according to Marca.

Both players – key to Carlo Ancelotti’s team – were injured during Madrid’s 3-0 defeat of Mallorca just before the international break and missed out on El Clasico as a result.

Their absence was noted as Madrid took a 4-0 battering from Barcelona in their own back garden and Ancelotti will be keen to get them back in action as soon as possible.

Madrid are about to enter a crucial final stretch of the season with both La Liga and the Champions League still in play.

Los Blancos are nine points clear of Sevilla in La Liga as things stand and will face Chelsea – reigning European champions – in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
