Barcelona welcome Ansu Fati back to training with standing ovation from teammates and staff

Ansu Fati is back.

The Barcelona forward trained for the first time since January on Monday evening and was applauded by his teammates and the coaching staff when he took to the field according to Marca.

His return, however, will be carefully managed.

Barcelona are keen to avoid triggering any relapses in the 19-year-old’s injury and aren’t going to play him against Sevilla.

Earning minutes is still a few weeks off for him.

Fati was injured during Barcelona’s Copa del Rey defeat at the hands of Athletic Club and has opted for conservative treatment rather than surgery to expedite his return.

The Spaniard has played ten games across all competitions this season, scoring five goals. He’s one of the most exciting footballers in the game even if his career has been injury-hit.

But he’s returning at a vital part of the season.

Barcelona are playing superb football under Xavi Hernandez and still have plenty left to fight for this season; they’re chasing Sevilla down in second-place in La Liga and have a Europa League quarter-final with Eintracht Frankfurt on the horizon.
