Speaking ahead of their fixture with Barcelona on Sunday night, Osasuna manager Jagoba Arrasate was full of praise for Barcelona star Pedri.
Osasuna proved a tricky opponent earlier on this season as the side from Navarra came from behind to draw 2-2 at El Sadar. Pedri was not present for that match, but Arrasate is well aware of his talent.
“What has surprised me most is Pedri’s personality. The personality he has to be so decisive, then the talent and I think he will eventually mark an era.”
Barcelona must react after being shut out by Galatasaray during Thursday evening’s Europa League tie. Arrasate commented on how impressed he was with the defensive display of the Turkish giants, in an interview with Spanish radio show El Larguero.
“Galatasaray demonstrated a different way to defend in a mid-block. Barcelona could well have won, but I liked the strategy from [Domenec] Torrent.”
No doubt Arrasate may look to do something similar on Sunday night. Osasuna have based much of their good work under Arrasate on defending well in their in their own half before springing counter-attacks. The Osasuna boss renewed his contract this week and now has a deal until 2024 in Pamplona.
