Neymar Junior marks the 13th anniversary of his Santos debut with Instagram post

Neymar Junior has marked the 13th anniversary of his professional debut on Instagram. The Brazilian earned his first senior minutes on this day in 2009 for his first club Santos. He was just 17 at the time but came on for the tail end of their 2-1 defeat over Oeste. He scored his first goal the following week.

Neymar would go on to spend four years with Santos before joining Barcelona in 2013. He was key as the Brazilian club, once of Pele of course, won three Campeonato Paulista titles, the Copa do Brasil, the Copa Libertadores and the Recopa Sudamericana.

He spent four seasons at Barcelona, part of a lethal frontline alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez that led the Blaugrana to two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey titles, the Supercopa de Espana, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

The now-30-year-old, who’s scored 70 goals in the 116 caps he’s earned for the Brazilian national team, traded La Liga for Ligue 1 in the summer of 2017 when he joined Paris Saint-Germain and he’ll be key tomorrow evening when the French side take on Real Madrid in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League.
