Monchi issues verdict on possible Sevilla transfer approach for Isco

Sevilla chief Monchi has answered questions over a possible move for Isco Alarcon this summer.

Isco is on the lookout for a new club, with a new contract at Real Madrid nowhere to be seen.

The 29-year-old has been at Real Madrid for around nine years in total, but his time is coming to an end.

The Spaniard has struggled for form in recent years, and along with Gareth Bale, he is likely to be let go this summer, at the end of his current contract.

Still of a good age, Isco could well be an attractive prospect, especially for other Spanish clubs who have seen what he can offer when he is at his best.

Sevilla are one of the clubs to have been linked, with head coach Julen Lopetegui said to be a fan.

But Los Nervionenses boss Monchi has played down rumours, well, he tried to.

In fact, he probably ended up making it feel more like Sevilla are likely to make a move for Isco this summer.

“I have not heard Julen say that he wants Isco,” Lopetegui told Mundo Deportivo.

“He has said that he is a good player. And if you ask me, I say that he is a good play.

“He is different from Tecatito. With Tecatito, it was in conjunction with what Lopetegui and the sporting direction wanted.

“Lopetegui likes Isco and my also, but there is nothing.”
