Geoffrey Kondogbia working to be back for Atletico Madrid’s clash with Manchester United

Atletico Madrid enjoyed a rest day today but several players still turned up to train. One of them, according to Diario AS, was Geoffrey Kondogbia, who came into the training ground in Majadahonda to work with Jose Zahinos, a fitness coach.

Kondogbia is working to return in time for Atletico’s trip to Old Trafford to lock horns with Manchester United in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 clash. He’s been suffering with a muscle injury since the clash with Celta Vigo back on February 26th and missed last weekend’s clash with Real Betis. Nor will he be ready for their clash with Cadiz this weekend.

But there is hope he’ll be ready for United. And he’s needed; Kondogbia is a key player for Diego Simeone, playing 27 matches across all competitions this season and contributing a goal and two assists. Having him back for United would be a boost.
