Barcelona are planning to pay tribute to Lionel Messi’s incredible career at the club.
The Blaugrana parted with Messi on difficult terms last summer, allowing him to leave for free at the end of his contract.
Joan Laporta initially agreed to the La Liga CVC loan which would have allowed him to keep Messi, but he later decided to reject the deal, by consequence allowing Messi to depart for free.
It wasn’t the treatment Messi expected or deserved after 22 years at the club, but Barca‘s chiefs are hoping to make amends.
According to Sport, Barca want to hold a special tribute to Messi in the year of 2024, which will be the Blaugrana’s 125 anniversary.
The report doesn’t give any details on what the tribute would consist of, but Barca are hoping to agree a date when the time gets a little closer.
And it’s hoped it will be a significant step towards Laporta and his chiefs rekindling their friendship with the Argentine superstar who transformed the club over almost two decades.
