Tension rising in the Kylian Mbappe saga amid Paris Saint-Germain’s huge contract offer

Tension is rising in the Kylian Mbappe saga according to Diario AS. The Paris Saint-Germain forward is free to make a decision on his future and choose whether he wants to stay put at the Parc des Princes or head to the Spanish capital to join Real Madrid.

PSG have put a huge offer on the table for Mbappe; a two-year deal that would see him earn around €50m a year and claim a signing-on bonus of €100m. It came days after the 23-year-old scored a brace against Saint-Etienne that saw him draw level with Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the man to have scored the second-most goals in PSG’s history. Only Edinson Cavani has scored more.

The French club believe that should PSG eliminate Madrid when they face them in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League on March ninth they’ll have a better chance of convincing their star to commit his future to his hometown club. He’s even coming under political pressure in France to stay in his country.

But his sole focus – right now at least – is on the upcoming trip to the Santiago Bernabeu. He’s suspended for PSG’s next match against Nice which means he’ll be taking an enforced rest ahead of the journey to the Spanish capital. That’s bad news, however, for Mauricio Pochettino. Mbappe has emerged as the leader of his team, scoring 14 goals in 13 games since December seventh.
