Fiorentina’s Real Madrid loanee Alvaro Odriozola opens up on his future

Fiorentina right-back Alvaro Odriozola has opened up on his future. The Spaniard is on loan in Serie A from Real Madrid but, in comments carried by Fabrizio Romano, has revealed that all he’s focused on is the present at this moment in time.

“I’m enjoying the present and then we’ll see at the right moment,” he said. “I don’t miss anything. I’m happy at Fiorentina. The Coppa Italia is my Champions League.”

Odriozola’s loan doesn’t include an option to buy and is scheduled to run until the end of the season. He’s made 21 appearances in Serie A so far this campaign, providing a goal and an assist, as well as one appearance in the Coppa Italia.

Born in San Sebastian, Odriozola came through the youth system at Real Sociedad and broke into the first team at Anoeta in 2017.

He joined Madrid the following year but has struggled to nail down a place in the starting eleven, spending last season on loan at Bayern Munich before this year’s Italian adventure. He’s earned four caps for the Spanish national team to date.
