Eden Hazard has featured for just 25% of Real Madrid’s minutes so far in 2022

Eden Hazard has featured for just 25% of Real Madrid’s minutes so far in 2022 despite being free of injury since the New Year according to a report by Marca. He’s been available all this time but Carlo Ancelotti has just decided against counting on him.

Hazard has played 13 minutes across Madrid’s last three games, his last start coming on January 23rd against Elche at the Santiago Bernabeu. The fact that the Belgian and Gareth Bale are the highest-paid players in the squad is hard to believe, in truth.

Hazard faces a decisive moment in his career this summer. He still has two years left to run on his contract at Madrid but has fallen down the pecking order at the club, with Vinicius Junior, Marco Asensio, Rodrygo and even Gareth Bale all being chosen ahead of him on a regular basis. This is going to be an even bigger challenge if, as expected, Kylian Mbappe soon arrives.
