Barcelona need to strengthen if they want to return to the top table of European football and a position they’ve identified that could be improved is out wide. The Catalan club’s financial situation still isn’t what could be described as healthy, but funds could be made available to bolster their ranks.
Three names that were mentioned in the Catalan press last week as potentially being of interest were Ferran Torres, Raheem Sterling and Dani Olmo. All three are fleet-footed wide forwards that would give Barcelona another dimension in the final third.

Fabrizio Romano, speaking in an exclusive interview with Football Espana, delivered insight into how Barcelona’s pursuit of the three is shaping up. Ferran is unlikely given how highly Pep Guardiola values him. Sterling is complicated from a financial perspective. Olmo has emerged as the number one target. The Leipzig player is an important part of Luis Enrique’s La Roja squad, and would adapt to La Liga seamlessly.
