Xavi talks Pep comparisons

Xavi says it’s a ‘positive’ to be compared with Pep Guardiola after being appointed as the new Barcelona head coach.

He said during his presentation: “We have to work a lot every single day. We’re Barcelona, best club in the world.

“This is the only way to get big results. We want to play a good football.

“If they compare me with Guardiola, it’s more than positive. Pep’s the best manager in the world”.

Falcao setback

Rayo Vallecano star Radamel Falcao has suffered an injury blow amid his fine start to the campaign.

Falcao has scored five goals in just eight games since signing for Rayo early in September, but he will now miss three to four weeks with a setback.

The international break means almost two of those weeks will be saved, but Falcao is still expected to miss at least two outings.

En-Nesyri injury

Sevilla have also suffered an injury blow with Youssef En-Nesyri now set to miss more action following a spell on the sidelines.

It’s believed the striker, who was Sevilla’s top scorer last season, has suffered a lapse in his recovery and will now miss out until late January or early Ferbuary.

The injury will also mean En-Nesyri likely missed the African Cup of Nations with Morocco in January.
