Xavi has already fired two members of Barcelona’s physio team amid injury crisis

Xavi Hernandez is already making significant changes to Barcelona’s physio department after taking over as head coach.

The Blaugrana legend was appointed as Barca’s head coach over the weekend and officially unveiled to supporters at Camp Nou on Monday.

Xavi has a big job ahead of him, with Barca in mid-table while battling both a financial and injury crisis.

He can’t do much about the former, but he can address the current fitness situation, and he intends to.

According to Diario AS, Xavi has already told physio Juanjo Brau and physical trainer Albert Roca – who arrived with Ronald Koeman – they are no longer needed.

It’s reported Jaume Munill could return to the club after two years with the Spanish national futsal team, while Ricard Pruna has also been earmarked to return having worked at Barca for a number of years previously.

Xavi is determined to fix the current fitness issues at Barca with injuries haunting the club so far this term.

As well as losing Martin Braithwaite for the season, Ansu Fati has suffered two setbacks since his long-term injury, while Ousmane Dembélé also suffered a setback.

Pedri has barely played at all, while Eric Garcia, Gerard Pique and Nico Gonzalez are all currently out injured.

Whether any of those are actually the fault of the physio department is unclear from the outside, but Xavi clearly feels as though more can be done.
