Jack Wilshere backs Eden Hazard to join Eddie Howe at Newcastle United

Real Madrid playmaker Eden Hazard has been tipped to join Eddie Howe at Newcastle United by former English international Jack Wilshere according to a report in Diario AS. Wilshere made his name at Arsenal, but also played under Howe at Bournemouth.

Hazard, Wilshere said, “would be delighted” to join Newcastle and play for Howe. “Hazard is on another level, but I think Eden would like to play for a coach like Eddie Howe. He’s the kind of coach you want to play for. He was great with me, because it was a tough moment for me, coming from a great club like Arsenal.

“I came to a group that had been together since they were in League One, they were all friends. They treated me great, but Eddie made sure they did. He was great with me all the time.”

Howe, who’s just replaced Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park, has a lot of work to do but he’s no stranger to tall challenges. He took Bournemouth from the English fourth division to the Premier League, after all. Newcastle are in a relegation dogfight and are joint-bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety.

Newcastle have just been taken over by a wealth fund closely tied to Saudi Arabia, becoming the richest football club in the world. They’ll look to re-enforce their squad in January and are also looking to appoint a sporting director to lead their project. Marc Overmars has rejected their advances and will stay with Ajax, and so Michael Emenalo is in their sights. He spent a decade at Chelsea and was pivotal in signing Hazard from Lille.
