Casemiro issues verdict on Vinicus Junior after late Brazil call-up

Real Madrid star Casemiro has given his verdict on teammate Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius is stealing the headlines at the Santiago Bernabeu this season having come to life under Carlo Ancelotti.

The 21-year-old struggled with consistency and his final product in previous years with Los Blancos, but he has found both so far this term.

In just 16 appearances across all competitions, Vinicius has scored nine and assisted seven times.

That sort of form has made him one of the stand-out players in La Liga so far this term, though initially, it wasn’t enough to earn him a Brazil call-up.

One way or another, Vinicius made it, however, replacing the injured Roberto Firmino, and in light of that, he has been praised by club and international teammate Casemiro.

The midfielder said in a recent press conference: “What I can say is that Vinicius is having his best moment, a special phase and he is also young.

“He has great potential to grow.”

Just why Vinicius wasn’t initially selected for Brazil is baffling given his form so far this term.

The winger only has seven caps, but he has been world-class so far this term and many felt he deserved the nod.

He did eventually get there, however, and he now has his chance to show Tite what he can do as he looks to make himself an undroppable ahead of next year’s World Cup in Qatar.
