Villarreal fight back to draw 3-3 with Cadiz in thriller at La Ceramica

Villarreal drew 3-3 with Cadiz on Tuesday evening in a bonafide thriller at La Ceramica in La Liga. Chico Lozano fired the Andalusian visitors into the lead in the 14th minute, before Pau Torres equalised two minutes shy of half-time. Lozano regained Cadiz’s lead in injury time, however.

Lozano then made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute, only for the comeback to begin. Boulaye Dia got Villarreal’s second in the 80th, with Arnaut Danjuma equalising dramatically in the 95th.

The result leaves Cadiz 17th in the table, just a point outside the relegation zone. Villarreal are four points ahead of them in 12th, level on points with 13th-placed Mallorca and one behind eleventh-placed Valencia. They’re really underperforming in La Liga this season having been tipped for a tilt at the top four.

Villarreal travel to Mestalla next to take on Valencia, before returning to European football with a fixture against Young Boys in the Champions League. Cadiz host Mallorca next before travelling to the Basque Country to face Athletic Bilbao.
