Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue is a priority signing in the January transfer window for Villarreal but negotiations on any deal may be difficult.
The 32-year-old midfielder is still valued by the Hornets – who were relegated to England’s Championship earlier this year – and has started seven league games to date this campaign, including their Boxing Day victory at home to Norwich City.
A report in Marca outlines that the Vicarage Road outfit are only interested in a permanent transfer and not a loan deal, which could potentially complicate a move as the Yellow Submarine wanted a loan deal.
Villarreal’s interest is fueled by an injury to Vicente Iborra which may rule him out for the remainder of the current campaign, with Capoue identified as an ideal replacement.
Back in September, Diario AS reported that Capoue was a priority transfer target for Valencia – coached by former Watford boss Javi Gracia – but no move materialised and he stayed in England.
