Barcelona face injury concerns ahead of Real Mallorca clash

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed Arthur Melo and Ansu Fati will miss the clash with Real Mallorca.

The Catalan giants are likely to be playing catch up to arch rivals Real Madrid, who play earlier on Saturday, if Zinedine Zidane’s side beat Espanyol at home.

The pattern of recent weekend fixtures, has meant that Barcelona have been responding to Real’s results, and the defending champions will be looking to do that at the Camp Nou this weekend.

Brazilian international Melo picked up a groin injury in last weekend’s 1-0 La Liga win away at Atletico Madrid, while 17-year old Fati has been struggling with a knee problem.

Valverde has not given a estimated return on either player, as he looks ahead to their December 18 El Clasico tie with Real Madrid.

Full back pair Nelson Semedo and Jordi Alba also miss out this weekend through injury, with the latter likely to miss the visit of Los Blancos, but the former should be fit in time.
