Porto set release clause of Fabio Silva to Portuguese high

Porto have raised the release clause of highly-rated teenage striker Fabio Silva to €125m, as cited by a report in Marca.

Atletico Madrid and Juventus are among the clubs to have been linked to the Portuguese –  according to a report in Calciomercato – and they have now raised the release clause of his contract, which lasts until 2022.

With 20 goals in 26 games for the under-19 team by, he was called up by manager Sérgio Conceição to train with the first team back in February.

However, Silva only made his first-team debut this season and has appeared as a substitute seven times across the league and Europa League, while making one start in the league and one in the Taca da Liga.

Silva's father Jorge was a defensive midfielder who won the league title in 2001 for Boavista. and was capped twice by Portugal, while Fabio’s brother – also named Jorge – played for Lazio.

Fabio scored his first senior goal for Porto in last month’s victory over Famalicão and he is tipped for a bright future in the game, with Atleti and Juventus now among the clubs linked.

It is likely Silva will be allowed to develop at Porto for some time yet but Atleti raided the Portuguese giants for Hector Herrera and Felipe Monteiro this summer, while also landing Joao Felix from Benfica.
