Eden Hazard overweight at Real Madrid – Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger believes Eden Hazard is struggling for form and confidence at Real Madrid and is not in peak physical condition.

The Belgian international arrived from Chelsea this summer in a €100m deal but, after suffering early injury problems, has struggled for early form in Madrid.

Indeed, Hazard has netted just one goal across 10 appearances for Los Blancos to date this campaign and has failed to find any sort of rhythm in his performances for his new club.

Wenger was in charge of Arsenal across 22 years and is currently working as a TV pundit and was speaking whilst working on Madrid’s Champions League clash against Galatasaray on Wednesday.

“I feel that we have not yet seen the threat we have known in England with Hazard,” Wenger analysed on BeIn Sports, as cited by Marca.

“He is not physically good after being injured. He is not a player who has particularly impressed me for anything (against Galatasaray), but he lacks the same confidence he had when he was at Chelsea.

“I think this is due to physical reasons. He came to the club too heavy, as we read in the newspapers. If you want a horse to lose a race, just add two extra kilos to a horse of 500 kilos.”
