Barcelona’s Jordi Alba suffers injury scare against Slavia Prague

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has handed manager Ernesto Valverde an injury worry following their 0-0 Champions League draw with Slavia Prague.

Alba has endured a stop start season so far in 2019-20, with calf and ankle problems restricting him to just six La Liga appearances so far this season.

Valverde brought him back into the starting line up face the Czech side, but he was withdrawn at half time, and replaced by Sergi Roberto.

According to reports in Marca at full time, Alba will undergo further tests tomorrow to assess the extent of the problem, with an update expected from the club in the morning.

If Alba is sidelined for an anticipated two week period, Valverde is set to recall summer signing Junior Firpo, to replace him at left back.

Valverde has also been hit by a Champions League suspension for fellow defender Gerard Pique, after he collected a third booking in the draw with Slavia Prague.

He will now miss their nex European game, at home to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, after already a domestic ban for five bookings in La Liga this season.
