Barcelona look to Boca Juniors defender Santiago Ramos Mingo

Barcelona are monitoring the development of Boca Juniors teenage defender Santiago Ramos Mingo, according to reports.

The central defender will celebrate his 18th birthday in November and will thus be available to make a move to European football.

The defender has yet to make his debut for the Boca senior side and has not signed a professional deal at the club, meaning the Blaugrana can nip in and sign him for a cut-price deal, report TyC Sports in his native Argentina.

It has been claimed that the player’s family received an offer directly from Barcelona, but this has yet to be formalised and there is now a waiting game to see what terms are offered.

Jose María Bakero, Barcelona’s head of youth development, is said to be the man behind the move and he will be hoping that the Catalan giants can snare the player for a cut-price deal.

Ramos Mingo was a member of Boca’s pre-season tour where he played in a friendly against Chivas and was on the bench for the Copa Libertadores last-16 match against Athletico Paranaense, but has yet to feature for the senior team.
