Man City, Barcelona race for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur

Barcelona and Manchester City both reportedly want Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur with the latter having a summer bid rejected.

Calciomercato cite a report from Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport which claims the deep-lying midfielder is in demand with both the Spanish and English champions interested in a deal.

The Uruguay international turned 22 back in June and has been in Turin since the summer of 2017 in a €12.5m deal, when he joined from Argentine giants Boca Juniors.

Bentancur made 40 competitive appearances for the Bianconeri last season, contributing two goals and three assists, but just three of his nine competitive appearances this season under new boss Maurizio Sarri have been starts.

The midfield positions at the Old Lady are crowded this season with Aaron Ramsey, Blaise Matuidi, Emre Can, Adrien Rabiot, Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and Bentancur all among the options.

Such a state of flux leaves the door open for a possible deal next year although no transfer figures are mentioned by the report.
