Jose Mourinho ‘has chosen another club’, say Lyon

Former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has rejected the opportunity to join Lyon as he ‘has accepted an offer from another club’.

The Ligue 1 club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas had revealed he held discussions with the out of work Portuguese boss after the club dismissed Sylvinho after a slow start to the campaign.

“We had some fairly flattering exchanges over SMS,” Aulas was quoted by Get French Football News.

“It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club.”

The Portuguese boss managed Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013, with the highlight of his tenure being the 2012 La Liga title.

Mourinho managed Madrid to 128 victories in his 178 matches at the helm while he also won the Copa del Rey in 2011 and the Spain Supercopa the following year.

He has not been in employment since he was sacked from his position at Manchester United in December 2018 and has repeatedly insisted that he would not rush into his next coaching position.

Mourinho has previously been heavily linked with a future return to Los Blancos, as he maintains an excellent relationship with the club’s president Florentino Perez.
