Barcelona have extended the contract of forward Carles Perez until the summer of 2022, as outlined by El Mundo Deportivo.
The 21-year-old made his La Liga debut for the Blaugrana in the final game of the league season last year – appearing for 17 minutes in a 2-2 draw at Eibar.
Due to injuries to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele, Perez started four La Liga matches at the start of this season and has looked lively, despite being outshone by 16-year-old debutant Ansu Fati.
Perez scored on his first start for the club – a 5-2 home win over Real Betis – while also starting the league matches against Osasuna, Valencia and Granada.
Indeed, due to the stipulation of his previous deal, had Perez started three more league games this season then this new deal would have come into effect – but the club have triggered it ahead of this inevitability.
