Ansu Fati set for long-term Barcelona contract

Teenage sensation Ansu Fati is close to agreeing a new five-year contract with Barcelona, according to reports from Catalonia.

Diario AS cite a report from Cataluyna Radio that the player’s current deal – which expires in June 2020 – will be renewed by five years, with the salary dependant on his first-team participation.

If Fati remains in the club’s B team, he will earn €300k per annum but if he is promoted to the first-team squad on a permanent basis, his salary will increase to €1m per year.

Furthermore, the forward’s deal will see his annual wage go up by €250k per year should he remain involved with first-team duties.

Fati – born in Guinea Bissau – scored and assisted on his first start for the Blaugrana in their 5-2 win over Valencia on Saturday.

The 16-year-old could potentially play for Spain’s Under-17 side in next month’s World Cup in Brazil with the Spanish FA hopeful on pushing through the paperwork to ensure his availability.
