Ferland Mendy returns to Real Madrid training

Ferland Mendy has returned to Real Madrid first-team training ahead of the weekend clash with Real Valladolid, Marca outline.

The France international suffered a thigh injury during the club's pre-season tour of North America, and he was thought initially to be out of first team action until after the September international break.

Mendy joined Los Blancos in a €55m deal from Lyon earlier this summer and, with question marks over Marcelo’s long-term form, may be tipped to be a regular starter.

However, a return to action this weekend may still be a little optimistic for the 24-year-old, with the club keen to avoid any aggravations of any injury.

Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes, Eden Hazard and Brahim Diaz all remain sidelined through injury for Zinedine Zidane’s squad, while Luka Modric now faces a suspension ban following his red card at Celta Vigo on the opening day of the campaign.

Takefusa Kubo will also not be available for selection for Madrid, as he looks set to complete a season-long loan move to Real Mallorca.
