Valencia are in advanced negotiations to sign Alaves central defender Victor Laguardia, according to a report in Cadena Ser.
Central defensive trio Rubén Vezo, Jeison Murillo and Jorge Sáenz are all departing the Mestalla this summer and Los Che have identified the area as in need of reinforcement.
Ezequiel Garay, Gabriel Paulista and Mouctar Diakhaby are all specialists in the position but Laguardia, who turns 30 later this year, is open to a move to the Copa del Rey holders.
The report continues that such an operation would not be simple as Laguardia renewed at the Vitoria-based club last year, penning a contract until 2022.
His new deal is said to include a €40m release clause and he is one of the captains of the dressing room and a key player, although it is likely they will negotiate on a transfer in excess of €10m.
The relationship between the two clubs is said by the report to be ‘fantastic’ and that could allow the deal to come to fruition in the coming weeks.
