Arsenal want Philippe Coutinho on loan

Premier League side Arsenal are considering a shock loan move for FC Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The Brrazilian international has been linked with a move away from the defending La Liga champions, however no club has come forward with a formal bid for the former Liverpool star.

According to reports in Diario Sport, Unai Emery's side will use the Joan Gamper Trophy tie with the Catalan club to negotiate a potential loan deal for the 2019-20 season.

Ernesto Valverde has been instructed by the club's board to raise money via sales in order to balance their finances after a summer of big spending on the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Neto and Junior Firpo.

The Gunners are unwilling to pay FC Barcelona's asking place of around €100m, after breaking their club transfer record on Nicolas Pepe, and their only potential option a loan deal.
