Pochettino: Keylor Navas one of world’s best goalkeepers

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insists Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas is one of the best in world football.

The shot-stopper was in magnificent form as Los Blancos fell to a 1-0 defeat against Spurs in a pre-season friendly, with Harry Kane on target for the North London side.

The Costa Rican has been behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order for the majority of the season last time out and had been linked with a move away from Madrid this summer.

“He was the best player on the pitch,” Pochettino told reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.

“He has been proving for some time that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he has been impressive. He is a goalkeeper who has always shown himself to have an impressive mentality.

“If not for him, the result would have been much more comfortable for us.

“Christian Eriksen? I don't know anything about his situation. I dedicate myself to training him and trying to get his best performance.

“It is not in my hands what happens with his contract, that is in the hands of his agent and Daniel Levy.”
